When temperature drops it is easy to get stuck in the warm and cozy couch at home. But with the right clothes, a visit to the outdoors in the winter is great for body and mind and it will boost your energy. The satisfying feeling you get after exercising outdoors is amazing! Studies even show that the tougher the weather conditions the more satisfying it is.
If you are really lucky you can enjoy skiing in the snow or ice skating on the ice. Tobogganing with the kids is tougher than you think and if you run as much as they do, it can become a real good work out. One of the world’s most effective form of exercises must be cross country skiing. It is easy on your body, and you are working almost all the muscles in your body, a super workout if your goal is to increase your pulse.
Back in school I hated cross country skiing. I thought it was a monotonous and tedious way of exercising. Do you feel the same way? Well back then I didn’t like Allsång på Skansen, olives or walks either. Today I absolutely love to bring my food box and head out for hours in the tracks, I think Allsång på Skansen is an adorable show for the entire family and I think olives are super tasty. This proves that the things we favor changes with time. So, if you like me didn’t like skiing before you might like it today. Have another go at it!
Layer up to trap warm air next to your body and keep the cold out. Grab a backpack with some hot chocolate, a warm jacket and head on out to enjoy an exercise in our beautiful winter landscape. Never before has a cup of hot chocolate tasted better and never before has your couch felt cozier as it does after your return from exercising outdoors in the snow.
